Nusa
Dua, Bali, September 2013. The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali recently greeted
all of the contestants competing in Miss World 2013 with a traditional
welcoming ceremony involving Balinese dancers and a scattering of flowers. Managing Director, Mr. Bipan Kapur together with
his management team wanted to create a memorable arrival as a symbol of local
hospitality. This prestigious beauty pageant is being hosted in Indonesia for
the first time ever with all supporting activities taking place on the island
of Bali.
The
contestants had the opportunity to experience the resort’s brand new wing
featuring stylish accommodation categories, a lagoon swimming pool and
signature initiatives. Each guest room is fitted with Westin’s next generation
Westin Heavenly® Beds , which ensured that the ladies were well rested during
their stay. They enjoyed a SuperFoodsRX breakfast for a healthy start to each
day in the comfort of Prego and this colourful eatery was used exclusively as
their private dining venue.
In
the lead up to the opening ceremony the Misses had the opportunity to rehearse
their stage moves in the newly refurbished Exhibition Gallery. Some of the
contestants learnt how to perform a traditional Indonesian dance in preparation
for the show, while the others used the WestinWORKOUT to stay fit.
The
opening ceremony for Miss World 2013 was held in the tastefully-appointed
Mangupura Hall in the adjacent Bali International Convention Centre (BICC). It
was televised live through RCTI to enthusiastic viewers in 160 nations around
the globe on Sunday, 8th September 2013. A number of VIP dignitaries and
Indonesian celebrities attended this exclusive event dressed in elegant evening
wear.
There
was also Kampung Westin, an evening bazaar set up in front of BICC recreating
the lively ambience of a traditional Balinese marketplace with stalls selling
handicrafts and souvenirs. The Misses enjoyed this fun shopping experience and
got to interact with the members of the local community whilst learning the art
of bartering. The resort’s soon-to-launch Heavenly Spa by Westin also took part
in this inspiring evening providing contestants with a relaxing head and
shoulder massage.
Before
checking out the contestants graciously took part in a group photo in front of
the Westin Lobby. It was a large shot featuring the management team and the
associates who worked tirelessly to ensure that all of the Misses were well
cared for during their time at the resort.
“It
was indeed a great honour to be one of the official hotels for this prestigious
international event. We are excited that the remainder of Miss World 2013 will
be held on the island and I am sure that it will put Bali in the global
spotlight as a quality destination. Video footage has been shot at all the very
best locations to showcase Bali’s unique culture and warm hospitality to a
world audience watching the pageant’s crowing finale on 28th September 2013,”
comments Mr. Bipan Kapur, Managing Director of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua,
Bali.
