St.
Regis® Hotels & Resorts, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide
Inc. (NYSE: HOT), announces the highly anticipated grand opening of The St.
Regis Chengdu, September 4, 2014. Debuting exactly 110 years after the first
St. Regis hotel in New York City opened its doors in 1904, The St. Regis
Chengdu continues the legacy of the luxury brand thoughtfully built for a new
generation of global travelers. With
this opening, St. Regis reaches 33 hotels around the world.
“The
St. Regis Chengdu marks a significant milestone for the brand with plans to
double the St. Regis portfolio in Greater China in the next five years,” said
Paul James, Global Brand Leader, St. Regis, The Luxury Collection and W Hotels
Worldwide. “As the world descends on
Chengdu for both business and leisure, the St. Regis is poised to become the
social center of this exhilarating city.”
As
the capital of Sichuan province in Southwest China, Chengdu has evolved from an
ancient city with rich cultural traditions to one known around the world as
‘the Silicon Valley of China’ - a vital hub for world commerce and home to more
than 252 Fortune 500 companies. The St.
Regis Chengdu, ideally located at the intersection of Chengdu’s business and
luxury retail districts, and steps away from Tianfu Square and Chun Xi Road,
creates a home for today’s entrepreneurial traveler with 279 luxuriously
appointed guestrooms and suites artfully designed to blend the residential Art
Deco style of the 1920s with traditional elements of Sichuan culture and
discreet state-of-the-art technology.
“We
are honored to debut the St. Regis in Chengdu, one of the fastest growing
metropolitan cities in the world,” said Richard Deutl, General Manager, The St.
Regis Chengdu. “We look forward to offering our global guests and distinguished
residents the highest level of personalized service delivered by our signature
St. Regis butlers, who have traded in their silver trays for smart phones to
cater to a new generation of luxury travelers.”
In a
nod to the city’s epicurean pedigree as UNESCO’s first City of Gastronomy in
Asia, The St. Regis Chengdu will feature six distinct restaurants and lounges,
including Social, a signature all-day dining restaurant; Yan Ting, a specialty
Chinese restaurant featuring authentic Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine; Yun Fu,
with four distinct private dining rooms on Level 27; Decanter, Chengdu’s only
dedicated wine bar with an extensive selection of fine wine labels, liquors and
aged cigars; Vantage XXVII, an outdoor sky bar with spectacular city skyline;
and The Drawing Room, offering the signature St. Regis afternoon tea and
champagne sabering ritual as well as the Chuan Mary, a spicier version of the
famous St. Regis Bloody Mary cocktail, re-imagined for Chengdu with Sichuan
peppercorn oil and pickled chili.
With
floor-to-ceiling glass windows, The St. Regis Chengdu will also provide the
perfect venue for events with over 11,840 square feet of meeting spaces,
accommodating both intimate social and high-level corporate gatherings with the
uncompromising service for which St. Regis is known. For discerning global
guests seeking an exclusive and exceptional venue to celebrate life’s memorable
occasions, the Astor Ballroom is the most glamorous space for a wedding
ceremony and reception.
The
newest Iridium Spa®, exclusive to St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, offers a
blissful experience including nine treatment rooms, sauna and steam rooms, and
a modern fitness center. Offering the latest in treatments, the tranquil spa
offers customized indulgence that surpasses the discerning tastes of St. Regis
guests. St. Regis is the only luxury hotel in Chengdu to offer both indoor and
outdoor swimming pools for in-house guests and St. Regis Athletic Club members.
