Mango
Tree launched its first Bistrobar in Jakarta's Plaza Senayan 18 months ago, and
the concept had been embraced by Jakarta's affluent and aspirational younger
generation.
Mr
MacKenzie said the 'Songkran Pomelo Summer Specials and Daily Deals' promotion
had been conceived for Mango Tree Bistrobar Plaza Senayan to say 'thank you' to
the brand's loyal fans and regulars while drumming up some additional brand
awareness and word-of-mouth.

Tree Bistrobar is the group's second-tier brand, based on a Parisian bistro
concept, which means quick, tasty and hearty fare, a good wine list and
innovative cocktails mixed by experienced mixologists.
The
Mango Tree Bistrobar concept was in response to the specific demands of the
burgeoning younger, upwardly mobile crowd – giving them a hip place to hang out
and be seen while enjoying quality cocktails, food and music.
“Younger
people in Asia Pacific are having the one social drink now, which they didn’t
do previously,” said Mr MacKenzie. “ But they are increasingly discerning.
Especially right here in Jakarta, where a staggering 50 percent of the
population is under 30 years of age.
“Mango
Tree Bistrobar delivers is exactly what they want. The Bistrobar brand is ideal
for Jakarta because there is a genuine appreciation of quality cocktails
delivered by outstanding mixologists and a desire to also tap good music in a
cool environment that attracts a young crowd with spending power.”

Tree Worldwide now has a portfolio of more than 70 restaurants, bistrobars and
cafes in 15 countries spread across Asia, the Middle East and the United States
through its Mango Tree, MangoTree Bistrobar, Mango Tree Café, Mango Chili, COCA
restaurant and COCA Café brands. It will expand its portfolio to more than 80
restaurants and cafes this year.
The
group’s prime locations include Hong Kong, London, Dubai, Tokyo, Jakarta,
Manila, Mumbai and Washington. It forecasts global turnover of more than US$100
million within two years.
“We
have been able to achieve so much because we have always aligned ourselves with
the right partners, who understood we have a unique concept that is not just
about great food – it’s also about adding value to the dining experience
through a combination of décor, presentation and tabletop architecture,” Pitaya
said.
Mango
Tree BistroBar Plaza Senayan co-owner Margerry Muliadi said she was delighted
to see the Bistrobar concept thrive and for the partnership to have stood the
test of time. It was her pleasure to offer the specials and daily deals to
diners.
She
said the relationship with Mango Tree stretched back more than 20 years, with
COCA Restaurants as their first venture together. One of the key shareholders
was also an owner of Mango Tree London, the first Mango Tree outside Bangkok,
and more recent addition Mango Tree Harrods.
The
Mango Tree group is a dynamic, innovative and fast-growing company that has a
vision to bring authentic Thai cuisine with a creative twist to the world, and
to plant a Mango Tree in every major world city. At the vanguard of the global
Thai food explosion, the Mango Tree group comprises the Mango Tree, Mango Tree
Bistro and Mango Tree Cafe brands, as well as Coca, the contemporary steamboat
suki concept. The group's heritage dates back to 1957, when Khun Srichai
Phanphensophon opened the first Coca restaurant in Surawong, launching the suki
trend in Thailand.
The
pioneering spirit continued when the group's CEO and celebrity chef Pitaya
Phanphensophon, Srichai's son, opened the first Mango Tree restaurant in the
heart of Silom in 1994. Today, the group operates more than 70 restaurants and
cafes in 15 countries in Asia, the Middle East, and the USA. Part cultural
ambassador and part culinary innovator, Mango Tree has charted a course to
become the premier global Thai cuisine brand, delivering quality Thai cuisine,
stylish design, and intuitive service that always exceeds diners' expectations.
