A
full moon on Christmas Day does not occur often – this year will be the first
in 38 years – and Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan is preparing for an
extraordinary celebration with Full Moon Christmas Yoga in a dramatically
beautiful location, on its new river-edge yoga deck.
Perched
on the banks of the Ayung River, the resort’s new Dharma Shanti River Terrace
provides a breathtaking open-air venue for a very different kind of Christmas
celebration, with yoga salutations and meditation under the glow of the full
moon and twinkling stars.
“Every
full moon or ‘purnama’ is a special day in Bali, and this year it just happens
to coincide with December 25th, which is a special celebration for many of our
guests from around the world,” said Uday Rao, General Manager of Four Seasons
Resorts Bali. “We’ve all seen pictures of Santa and his reindeers flying past a
bright full moon, and this year we will be keeping an eye out while doing Moon
Salutations on the yoga deck!”
The
last Christmas Day full moon was in 1977 and the next one is due in 2034,
according to Dan Joyce, astronomer at Triton College's Cernan Space Center. The
Full Moon Christmas Yoga is part of a comprehensive festive events program at
Four Seasons Resorts Bali, encompassing the riverside retreat of Four Seasons
Sayan, and the all-villa beach escape of Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay.
Other
highlights of Four Seasons Sayan’s festive program include Santa’s arrival by
river raft, New Year’s Eve meditation, ‘flying’ AntiGravity Yoga, riverstone
bathing rituals and sumptuous dining. Meanwhile Four Seasons Jimbaran’s festive
program includes Surfing with Santa as part of the resort’s new TropicSurf
program. After hearing Christmas wish lists, Santa will don a pair of
boardshorts and join the TropicSurf coach to take young guests surfing at the
gentle beach break of Jimbaran Bay. Children will also be invited to join a
‘dokar’ horse-and-cart ride with Santa around the resort gardens.
To
get families bonding and relaxing together this festive season, the resort will
run a Festive Amazing Race challenge, while The Healing Village Spa is offering
Family Yoga. Guests looking for unique gift ideas can join a Chakra Blending
Class to make their own ila Himalayan salt scrub and massage oil, as a gift for
someone special or a memento of Christmas in Bali.
The
last night of 2015 will be unforgettable at Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay’s
sophisticated beach-club and restaurant, Sundara, located just steps above the
sparkling surf. With a New Year’s Eve beach-front dinner and delightful new
Customized Cocktails by DRY Martini, Sundara will host a stylish Countdown
Party to ring in 2016 culminating in fireworks over the ocean. Sundara’s
Recovery Brunch on New Year’s Day will be the perfect way to refresh and start
2016 – immersed in beach-front bliss, all-day grazing and rehydrating,
sundowners, live music and relaxed vibe. A Happy New Year, Bali-style. (Photos: Four Seasons)
