Oscar Lawalata Culture in collaboration with luxury hotel brand with an illustrious history, Raffles Jakarta present a fashion exhibition in conjunction with culinary experience “A Journey through Nusantara”. Oscar, the Jakarta-based Fashion Designer and Social Entrepreneur with missions for the culture with his private collection for the last 15 years. His enduring commitment to the preservation of cultural heritage is centered in every thick-and-thin layer and shape of each Indonesian traditional fabric.
After a success of Fashion Exhibition “I AM INDONESIAN” at Museum Nasional, 25th April – 2nd May 2016, Oscar Lawalata has decided to take this opportunity and create another successful event at Raffles Jakarta. The fashion exhibition will primarily showcase more than 150 masterpieces of Kain Nusantara by Oscar Lawalata.
On this occasion, in line with Oscar’s cultural heritage preservation mission, Raffles’ appreciates Indonesia’s culinary journey of the archipelago during the month of Ramadhan. Oscar will add an elegant national touch in terms of decoration at Arts Café making the journey through Nusantara come to life within the hotel.
We would like to invite all guests to a celebration of the holy month of Ramadhan through the unending journey of Indonesian Culture, Private Exhibition of Oscar Lawalata Culture, an inspiring fashion statement of sacred symbol of cultural historical embodiment, Friday, 3rd June (for Invitation-Only) and Saturday, 4th June 2016 at Ballroom C, Raffles Jakarta.
Chef Daniel Patterson
Chef Daniel Patterson is originally from Newmarket, United Kingdom and joined the hotel from Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, Bangkok, Thailand where he was the Executive Chef. Prior to that, he was the executive chef in a number of five star hotels including Shangri-La and Hyatt.
Chef Daniel has a bright and positive outlook on life, and the same can be found in his culinary creations. His food is is vibrant and colorful, both Western and Asian dishes presented in delicate and tasteful ways originating from his vast international experience and an array of cooking techniques.
Chef Daniel likes to combine local produce and different flavors to create healthy dishes that surprise our guests. Watch him in action daily at the Arts Café on level 1 at Raffles Jakarta. Raffles Jakarta is proud to introduce its new Executive Chef, Daniel Patterson. Daniel brings with him over 18 years of culinary experience to Raffles Jakarta and he will oversee the culinary creations in Arts Café, The Writers Bar, Navina Pool Bar, the Dian Ballroom, meeting rooms and in-room dining.
Chef William Wongso
William Wongso is recognized as one of Indonesia’s national treasure. He is a culinary expert who specializes in Indonesian food, a renowned restaurateur, and a host of a popular culinary show on Indonesian television channel.
Since young, William Wongso undertook a variety of culinary education all around the world. He has been recognized by the world through his experience and knowledge in culinary. Hence, he received various awards such as chevalier dans l’ordre du merite agricole, an award given by the Ministry of Agriculture of France, in appreciation of his significant role and contribution towards French culinary and gastronomy. He is also recognized by the Indonesian government for his continuous efforts in promoting Indonesian culinary both nationally and internationally.
Currently, he is the Culinary Advisor for Garuda Indonesia airlines and a member of the board of advisor for Foodie magazine.
