Dari Kuliner hingga Bersepeda

Berkunjung ke Bali tenta kurang lengkap jika tidak menikmati alam sekitar dan melakukan aktivitas yang menyenangkan. Well, acara #SensHotelBloggerTrip, dirancang sedemikian rupa, sehingga dalam waktu 3 hari 2 malam ( 29 April – 1 Mei 2016), bisa memperoleh liburan yang efektif tapi tetap menyenangkan.
Wisata kuliner merupakan keharusan, itu sebabnya pertama-tama yang dicari di Ubud, sebelum  check in di hotel, adalah makan siang di Nasi Ayam Kedewatan. Wisata kuliner berikutnya kebanyakan berlangsung di hotel – mulai dari sekadar sarapan, aktivitascooking class, hingga Dinner at Yonne Café & Bar, dan diakhiri menjelang ke bandana untuk balik ke Jakarta, adalah makan siang di Warung Kelapa.

Ngopi cantik (dan ganteng) adalah hal yang tak boleh terlewatkan. Kami mengunjungiwarung kopi yang paling hits di Ubud, yakni Seniman Coffee Studio yang bisa ditempuh dengan jalan kaki dari hotel. Sungguh petualangan kuliner yang memuaskan!

Selain urusan perut, ada dua tempat yang tidak boleh dilewatkan jika berwisata ke Ubud, yakni berkunjung ke museum (galeri) dan pertunjukan kesenian Bali. Kami memilih berkunjung ke Pakuduwi – Made Ada Sculptor (The Maestro of Garuda Statue) dan ke Setia Darma House of Mask & Puppet. Ada pun untuk performancing art, kami pergi ke Sanggar Tirtasari di Balerung, Peliatan untuk menonton sendratari Bali.

Tapi, petualangan yang sesungguhnya adalah bersepeda. Memang tidak semua peserta ikut serta, sebab selain ada yang malas berolah raga, juga, ssst, ternyata ada dua orang yang tidak bisa bersepeda (hare gene, loh!). Tapi cycling kali ini bukan kategori fun bike, saudara-saudara, karena selain medannya lumayan berat, jarak tempuhnya lebih dari 15 km.

Ada kejadian yang tidak menyenangkan di acara bersepeda ini, dua orang mengalami kecelakan. Yang satu cedera ringan, dan yang satunya lagi cukup serius – ada bagian tubuh yang terpaksa dijahit untuk menghentikan pendarahan.

Created by award-winning bartender and author Dre Masso, Akademi is a hub for the world’s most celebrated and innovative mixologists and a centre for the craft. Located in the lobby of Katamama, PTT Family’s first hotel, Akademi offers patrons a curated selection of unique libations, utilising the finest local ingredients.
The focus of Akademi’s menu is the exploration of Indonesia’s fine tropical offerings. In addition to one of the biggest collection of premium spirits in the country, the bar houses a vast range of infused locally produced arak made from coconut, rice and cane. Dre and his team have worked with island tribes and local artisans as well as permaculture experts to grow the best produce on the hotel grounds, all to create drinks that showcase the best of Indonesia. Akademi plans to contemplate, dissect and transform a different indigenous ingredient every month in its quest to innovate while still respecting the local flavours.

Also a learning lab, Akademi welcomes a roster of international mixologists who will explore local flavours and create innovative cocktails as well as help train a new generation of local bartenders to international standards by passing on their knowledge and experience. Visiting experts already confirmed include Zdenek Kastanek of Singapore bar 28 Hongkong Street, Soran Nomura of Fuglen in Tokyo and Samuel Ng of Black Pearl in Melbourne.
Designed by the PTT Family in-house team, Akademi pushes the boundaries of constructability and explores the natural material of terrazzo. On entering the space guests are greeted with four shades of terrazzo, brass accessories and royal blue seating upholstery. Taking centre stage within the space is Akademi’s bar station designed by Dre with a vintage ’70s pendant light by Gaetano Sciolari.
The Akademi experience is complete with bespoke ceramic, wood and copper cocktail vessels made by local artisans and a vinyl turntable with a Klipsch hi-fidelity audio system. In addition, a library of rare and fascinating drinks literature, including a first edition of ‘The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks’ by David A. Embury, originally published in 1948 and a 1947 edition of the ‘Bartender’s Guide’ by Trader Vic is available for reference.
Opened on 7th January 2016, Akademi’s high regard for its indigenous ingredients as well as its commitment to education and community values makes it not only unique to Bali, but unique to the hotel world.

Now recognised as one of the leading figures in the bar and mixology scene internationally, Dre began his career in London. Over 20 years in the industry, Dre worked in some of the most famous bars in London including the Atlantic Bar & Grill, Lab Bar and Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen. In 2004 Dre formed The Worldwide Cocktail Club, which consulted on the beverage programs for such legendary bars as Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and Amy Sacco’s Bungalow 8. He has been named UK Bartender of the Year three times and in 2005 published his first cocktail recipe book, ‘Margarita Rocks’.  He has been with PTT Family since 2013 and recently published his second book ‘Classic Cocktails at Home’.

A refreshing addition to the Bali hotel scene, Katamama is a 58-suite boutique hotel located on one of the last parcels of land in Seminyak, Bali’s most prestigious oceanfront district.

Now open, Katamama embodies “handcrafted hospitality”, with all aspects of the design and experience centered on this concept. With only 58 suites, Katamama is intimate and serene, offering some of the largest living spaces of any hotel in Bali, in each of its categories. The suites are filled with curated artwork, handpicked furniture and cherished collectibles, many of them originally part of the owner’s personal collection. All suites boast outdoor spaces, whether balconies, secluded gardens or individual pools. The Rooftop Suites embody premium luxury and provide the ultimate escape. Pergilah ke pasarnya jika kamu ingin tahu tentang kota itu. Begitu nasehat seorang fotografer senior. Maka, ke Madrid, Spanyol, kurang lengkap kalau tidak mengunjungi Mercado de San Miguel.

Pasar ini awalnya dibangun oleh pemerintah pada tahun 1916, kemudian dibeli oleh swasta pada 2003, serta direnovasi dan dibuka kembali pada tahun 2009.  San Miguel Market adalah pasar yang paling populer di Madrid oleh kalangan wisatawan karena terletak di pusat kota Madrid, dalam jarak berjalan kaki dari Plaza Mayor.  

Inilah pasar bersejarah dan monumental, tempat berbelanja dan berwisata kuliner. Pasar modern (karena sangat berbeda dengan umumnya pasar-pasar yang ada di negara berkembang) yang terletak di jantung kota ini juga tempat bertukarnya kebudayaan antar negara – karena banyaknya turis, terutama Eropa, yang berkunjung ke area tersebut.
